Each one of us could go through unappealing hair and scalp problems, and some may be severe. Aside from all the pollution, chemicals, sun exposures, adding up to the dilemma are the hereditary factors that will definitely add much turmoil to the evidently troubled hair. There are two of the most common scalp diseases, and these are psoriasis and seborrhea dermatitis.

Psoriasis The psoriasis of the scalp is a certain condition that will be the cause of redness, a lot of itching, some dry powdery flakes or even thick scales of the scalp. Scalp psoriasis is a chronic (which means a persistent and lasting disease) condition, with the possibility of not to be cured completely but still can be treated. The real cause of this disease is not thoroughly determined, but on the contrary, there is a suspicion that this is a disease that is to be hereditary by nature.

Like most of the other diseases, psoriasis is also triggered by stress, if you will try to relax and keep your mind at a peace state then that is good. Psoriasis has a very probable tendency of flaring up, most especially if being exposed to the sun, which in fact worsens the condition. If you have psoriasis, do not ever neglect your hair, you always have to protect it, and your scalp, against the sun?s harsh rays, try on a scarf or a cap. Drugs cannot cure the psoriasis, which is true; the only way of treating it is by using a topical treatment for this condition.

The Seborrhea dermatitis The seborrhea dermatitis is a condition that is more commonly known as a form of dandruff, and the symptoms are most definitely known to everybody. Dandruff will cause oily scales, redness, and many itching and rather greasy flakes on the scalp. Usually, seborrhea dermatitis is caused by the hormonal changes, or by fungal infections that occurs of the scalp?s skin. There is a slight difference between the seborrhea dermatitis and psoriasis, and that is by checking the flakes. You see, when infected with the psoriasis, the flakes are usually very dry and a lot more powdery, while when infected with seborrhea dermatitis the flakes appear oily.

None of these scalp diseases are contagious, so you need not worry too much if a friend, or a family member of yours have either of these conditions. If you are experiencing and suffering any of the above conditions, it is ultimately advised that you avoid any scratching and picking on these scales. Be very, very careful, and steer away from any hair dyes and above all any chemicals treatments such as coloring and perming to name a few. As much as possible do not abuse your hair and scalp, so that you can be able to avoid any more damage to yourself.

Why Joe Crede Must Win the Gold Glove

With the lowest total of errors at the 3B position and the highest fielding percentage in the AL at the position, Joe Crede has obviously been effective at third base for the Twins in 2009. There's a new metric that's taken more seriously, though, and this is called the UZR.

Crede is a very valuable Minnesota Twin offensively. Relative to where he hits in the order, his numbers are solid to the point where any team would be happy to have such numbers later in the lineup. His fielding has been better though.

To build on the UZR, there's a stat called the UZR 150, which goes to show how many runs a player has cost or saved his team over the span of 150 games played at a certain position. Crede's UZR is about 27 runs per 150 games at 3B. To put it into perspective, the next best in the AL after Crede there is Adrian Beltre, at around 17.

This raises the question: Are we, as bloggers, taking Crede's defense for granted? Do we realize just how valuable Joe Crede is to this team?

Crede gets very little respect for what he does. He's a solid hitter and people recognize this, but virtually no one ever discusses his efficient play as a third baseman. He's simply been phenomenal this year.

Crede should be the hands down favorite for the Gold Glove, and I'm going to predict that he won't win it. It's the nature of the beast when it comes to these things.

Unfortunately, the Twins get little respect when it comes down to voting. Look at snubs like Luis Castillo, Justin Morneau, and Joe Mauer, all of whom deserved Gold Gloves and never got them.

The Gold Glove voters are biased, as are the All-Star voters. This would also explain whyCarlos Gomezdid not win a Gold Glove last year, despite being the best defensive CF in the Major League Baseball - along withGrady Sizemore.

Different Exercises to Jump Higher

If you think only superstars can jump higher, then you better think again. You need not be a superstar to aim for a higher vertical leap. You too can improve the height of your vertical jump through exercises to jump higher. Although there is no single way to help you jump higher, there are lots of techniques and exercises that can help you improve your jumping potential. You can try any of these many exercises so you can figure out which one would best work for you.

You can try jumps in elevated positions. This is one of the exercises to jump higher. All you need to do is simply place a platform in front of you and go up on it. Once on top, you just need to leap backwards and land on the floor as gently as you can. Then, try bouncing back to the platform and do leap back down again. Try this routine ten times and gradually increase the number of repetitions after a few days. If it is your first time to do such exercise, remember not to rush and do the jumps slowly.

Jumping as high as you can while changing direction is a good way to practice your vertical leap. To help you keep track of the changes, you can use cones as targets. See to it that the cones are placed a few steps away from each other to keep you from restricting your movements.

Scissor jumps and skipping are also great exercises to jump higher. You can do scissor jumps by jumping and switching the positions of your feet as quickly as you can while you are still in the air. See to it that your feet are apart as you land. Once on the floor, jump back up and do the whole process again. Do this exercise in a matted area to keep you from harming yourself. Skipping might sound silly but if you find a way to do this properly, it will become a great way to exercise your legs and develop your jumping muscles.

Another option is to practice your vertical leaps. There are lots of exercises to jump higher based on practicing vertical jumps. But before you attempt any of this kind of exercises, see to it that you have sought the advice of a fitness expert or instructor. This is important so you can make sure that you are fit enough to perform jumping exercises.

Leatherman Crunch: A Different Multi-Tool

Leatherman is a well known brand in multi-tools. They have become the standard. Leatherman's innovated pliers design have been copied by many. The Leatherman Crunch introduced a new pliers design. Locking pliers also know as vice-grips. Anyone that uses tools often knows how valuable locking pliers are. It is like having a third hand. While needle nose pliers are useful, vice grips allow you to free up your grip and apply more leverage on clamping.

The Leatherman Crunch is small. Smaller than the Wave. The design is very cool. The Crunch pops out and it takes a few seconds to set up the main tool. The result is a small to mid-size vice grip that is very compact and portable when closed. In hand, it feels very well built and like all Leathermans, it has a 25 years warranty. The company stands by it's products and you can see it in the build quality of the Crunch.

The Crunch is equipped with 13 tools. I won't go through them all but the tools that will be used the most are the vice grips, serrated blade, and large flat-head screwdriver. The Crunch does not have as much tools as the Wave or any standard Leatherman but the main tool makes up for it. The Crunch is what I would consider an accessory multi-tool. Multi-tools will never replace the main counterparts but what you gain is portability and capability. Think of it as having a mini toolbox in your pocket. That is the point of multi-tools and the Crunch will definitely serve me well in the years to come.

While the Crunch lacks tools, the main tool makes up for it. Through the function of it's design, I can see how difficult it must be to incorporate many additional tools into the Crunch. For this reason, I am satisfied with the Crunch. I have other multi-tools and the Crunch is very good in comparison. What I did not like was the redundancy. For instance, I have 3 different sizes of flat-head screwdrivers. I do not need all of that. What nice though, the Crunch can be expanded. You can unscrew the adjustment knob all the way to reveal a hex driver slot. This makes for a very handy bit driver. Nice addition to have.

The Crunch is a great complimentary multi-tool. Having something is better than nothing and the Crunch can meet many needs from day to day. The crunch is perfect when coupled with the Victorinox Soldier. While not as complete as a Wave or a Charge, the Crunch can still hold it's own in the sea of multi-tools. You can find the Crunch on sale for about $50.

Near the town of Pisco, you can catch a boat out to the islands to see Sea Lions and Penguins frolic around on the gorgeous rock formations in the middle of the sea. It is awesome to see the little guys waddle around and jump in the water. It is a protected nature reserve and the sea life, birds and other wildlife are free to live out their lives with no fear of being hunted killed by man. Although they do have to put up with is the hoards of tourists disrupting their lives each day on loud boats that pollute the air.

Peru is an amazing country to start living out your dreams. The list above is only the tip of the iceberg of all the things that you can see and do there. It boasts the Amazon Rainforest and a visit to the jungle is a must for anyone. It has the world highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca and it has rich history in Lima. If you can't make it to the catacombs in Paris, check out the eerie catacombs in Lima. Wanting to see mysterious markings? Fly over the Nazca Lines dating back 2000 years. Giant etchings in the sand sending messages to the Gods. Or are they built for extraterrestrials to find their way home. Nobody knows, but it is a sight to remember.

How to Get Muscular Pecs Naturally

Most guys want to have big, masculine pecs that they can show off and be proud of. Unfortunately, getting those impressive pecs can be a lot harder than you may realize. There are a lot of mistakes or blunders, that may prevent you from building these pecs you dream of. Here are a few of the common ones that you should learn to avoid.

1. The first error that many people make is that they push themselves too hard and overwork themselves. They have the wrong idea that the fastest way to build up their pecs is to just lift as much as they possibly can and at the fastest rate they can. The reality is that this won't provide any results and can actually do your body harm.

As in all things, moderation is the key. Remember that it's more about the quality of the workout than the quantity. Generally, it's better to do more reps than it is to add more resistance, but doing too many reps can also be bad for you.

2. The second common blunder that prevents guys from getting muscular pecs is focusing solely on bench pressing. There are some people that believe bench pressing is the foundation for building the pectorals, but this is belief is not accurate.

The reason for this, is because bench pressing builds the entire upper body, so trying to concentrate on just the pecs is virtually impossible with this exercise. However, if you include flys and inclined bench presses, you can help to isolate the pecs and increase their bulk.

3. A third error people make, is in relation to their diets. A lot of individuals fail to understand that their diet may be preventing them from bulking up their pectoral muscles the way they want. A diet that is plentiful in proteins is very essential if you plan to build up your muscle mass and achieve impressive pecs.

4. The final blunder, but the most common is not to follow a proven training program.

Spyderco Caly 3: Perfect EDC

If you are looking for a high quality folding pocket knife, the Spyderco knives are where to look first. The Spyderco Caly 3 is an excellent every day carry(edc) knife. It is small, elegant, and you will hardly notice it in your pocket. It will be very rare to find a bad review on the Caly 3. For what it is, it is close to perfection. The Spyderco Caly 3 comes in 2 different forms. A carbon fiber handle with zdp blade steel and a G10 handle with VG-10 blade steel. I opted to get the G10 version as it is more practical and the steel is easier to sharpen albeit slightly inferior. This knife is small! it is very compact. The reason I choose to carry this knife had much to do with my state law. In Rhode Island, it is illegal to carry a knife with blade length longer than 3 inches. You have to play the cards you are dealt. Besides the size, I noticed that it was extremely comfortable in hand. The ergonomics are incredible. I am 5'10" and have medium hands. It fits perfectly. The Knife does not look like a traditional knife but do not let the looks fool you. It is incredibly comfortable to hold. It is a bit heavier than my Spyderco Delica Wave, but in a good way. The Caly 3 feels high quality and durable.

Out of the box, the deployment was not very fast. It had a sandy sound while opening and it would sometimes get stuck midway. After a few hundred openings, it's perfect. Not too loose that it will open in my pocket and not too tight. I can flick it easily and it will lock up with an authoritative click. The lockup is rock solid. No blade play whatsoever. If I can describe the lockup in 1 word, it would be "confident." One of the reasons I choose a Caly 3 was it's lock back design. My being left handed, I always pass a liner lock design as they are always tailored towards right handers. Any knife that is not ambidextrous is passed. Luckily, this wonderful knife is available to both southpaws and orthodox. The pocket clip is great. It is a hard wire "paper clip" design but it works. It allows the knife to ride deep into the pocket and it is very strong. You can slip you knife in a out of pocket easily. All Spyderco's should adopt this clip. It is a great design. Much better than the clip on my Native.

The blade is very thin. The grind is full flat grind. This means the bevel starts at the spine of the blade making the edge come to a very thin point. The angle is more acute making this blade an excellent slicer. I am fairly good at sharpening. I can put a decent honing edge sharpening freehand. Lately, I have been using the Spyderco Sharpmaker to sharpen my knives. I recommend using the Sharpmaker simply because it makes sharpening easier. It is no substitute for freehand sharpening but it's definitely convenient.

Some weeks ago, I saw a video where a man modified his knife with a zip tie. This made his knife "waved". Emerson patented their "wave" design which allows the knife the ability to be opened while being pull out of the pocket. I adopted this zip tie mod and I found it very effective. Choosing The Best Hiking Shoes And Backpacking Boots

So, you want to get into hiking and you're not sure what to do first. Well, your feet play a big part in moving you down the trail and if you take care of them, they will take care of you. I would suggest finding a pair of supportive trail shoes or boots that will do just that.

What type of activity that you wish to pursue? If you are only putting a few miles under your feet at a local or state park with less challenging terrain, all you really need is a pair of trail shoes. These lower cut shoes resemble more of a sneaker but they have better support and a better tread. If you will be going on a backpacking trip where you will be carrying more weight and dealing with more challenging terrain, you will need a more supportive light hiking or backpacking boot.

Viewing the selection at a local outfitters can seem a little intimidating. Making the best choice is based on understanding five components in all shoes and boots and the proper support each part must have.

Your outsole is the rubber tread which makes contact with the ground. The best outsoles have a staggered tread for better traction. In other words, the raised lugs of the tread should not be in tight, uniform rows. Having a staggered tread also assures that when your shoe flexes, dirt and debris will be released.

Above the outsole is a layer called the midsole. It's purpose is to disperse kinetic energy. You've heard of the saying that every action has an equal and opposite reaction right? When your feet hit the ground while hiking, an opposite force bounds back up your body. If you didn't have a good midsole, your muscles, tendons and ligaments would be responsible for releasing that energy. Good midsoles eliminates alot of shock and stress.

How can you tell if a boot or shoe has a good midsole? Hold the back of the shoe in your left hand, put the front of the shoe against the palm of your other hand and apply pressure. The front of the shoe will start to bend upwards. Some shoes produce more resistance than others. The more resistance, the more support the midsole provides. Most footwear without sufficient support just fold in half. Your choice must still be flexible. The stiffer the shoe, the less likely you are to feel trail debris under your feet which can be dangerous. You don't want to loose contact with what's happening under your feet.

Often overlooked, the footbed, AKA insole is an important part of the puzzle. Most shoe and boot manufacturers make good footwear, but terrible footbeds. Once removed, if you can easily twist it out of shape, it will not provide any real support. Before long, those flimsy foam footbeds will be compressed paper thin. Once that happens, you get no support or cushioning. Replace those with a pair that provides actual anatomical support, much better!

The upper is the material of which the main body of the boot or shoe is manufactured. The most common materials are leather, synthetic leather, nylon, ballistic nylon and breathable mesh panels. The upper also contains the tongue, lacing hardware and laces. A shoe or boot made of full grain leather traps more heat, has less breathability and takes more time to break in. Having mesh panels makes for a more comfortable shoe in warmer conditions.

Contrary to popular belief, the height of a boot has nothing to do with ankle support, only abraision resistance and protection from debris, mud, snow, etc. All ankle support is determined by the heel counter. The heel counter is a band-aid shaped piece of material located between layers of the upper, wrapping around the heel area at the back of the shoe just above the outsole.

Imagine a line that goes straight down the back center of the shoe, then put the heels of your hands on either side of the shoe and press them together toward that line. The area along that line at the top of the shoe may fold, but if the area at the bottom of the line closer to the heel folds... you will not have sufficient ankle support.

Other than knowing these attributes, you know when a shoe feels right. It may or it may not and the only way to know is to try them on. Once you've found the right fit, your outdoor adventures will feel so much better!

Whether you will be dayhiking or doing a multi-day backpacking trip, these items will insure a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.

Obtain a map of where you will be hiking. Usually, you can pick one up at the park visitor center or ranger station. You can also download maps from various websites. Having a good map will not only will not only prevent you from getting lost, but it can help rescuers find you if you suffer an injury.

Get yourself a good map reading compass. Using the map and compass together, you can orient your map to your direction and surroundings, choose the correct path and keep yourself on course.

Staying hydrated is crucial. You can survive about a month with no food, but only a few days without water. You can become dehydrated quickly by exertion, perspiration, heat and exposure. It's a good idea to have 2 one liter bottles of water. Also, carry some water purification means with you. I use a liquid water treatment drops.

Take a bit more food than you think you will need, to get you through an extra day if need be. This can easily be accomplished by having a few whole food bars with you, each of which constitute a complete meal replacement. Important for maintaining energy output.

Having a few additional clothing layers will help you stay warm and dry. Depending on the season, temperatures can fall quickly around sunset. It's a good idea to outfit with synthetic clothing. That way, if you get wet they will dry faster. Wet clothing in cold temperatures is a recipe for disaster.

Pack some sort of light source like a headlamp or flashlight. If you are forced to make camp or hike out in the dark, you will be able to see trail debris an obstacles that could cause danger.

Have a personal first aid kit and know how to use everything in it. Suffering an injury in the wilderness is no fun. You can assemble your own with supplies from home, but include triangular bandages and moleskin or mole foam. You may want to consider taking a basic wilderness first aid course.

On rare occasion one must light a fire in the backcountry as a matter of survival. I've been on a kayak trip where someone overturned and they were soaked just as the temperature started to drop. Do not light a fire unless absolutely necessary. Bring matches and a lighter in a waterproof case and use caution to avoid wildfires.

A small camping knife may come in handy for a number of purposes. Make sure that the one you use has a locking blade, you don't want it to close on a finger.

Ultraviolet protection is really important. The suns rays can be damaging to eyes and skin, so bring a good pair of sunglasses, a small tube of sunblock and perhaps a wide brimmed hat.

Do You Practice Golf Incorrectly?

It seems logical on the surface; if you want to practice golf and get better you should follow and emulate the pros. Certainly you've heard that it's good to emulate success. Then naturally you can switch on the golf TV station and get countless points and direction from pros of all levels.

Now let's return to this planet for a second. Becoming the next Tiger Woods may be your ambition, but for the tremendous majority of us, that is not going to happen. There is a very small chance you or anyone else will reach that level. Bettering your scores should be your very realistic goal. We all want to play our best, but to seek to imitate the best players in the world is just the wrong way to go about it.

If you are similar to the majority of people, you perform your practice on the weekends and after you get off work. Golf is their 9 to 5 occupation. They wake up and hit the course. putting in a tremendous amount of hours working to become better at their trade. You on the other hand don't have that luxury. You might want practice golf 24/7, but let's be practical and make the best use of the time you do have.

We have all watched our favorite professionals hit a beautifully lofted shot that stops dead on the green a few feet from the hole, or maybe one that backs up towards the pin. We could spend months working on this, but as a weekend golfer, there are more productive ways to spend our time that will result in lower scores. What we should do is improve the basics first, and that's where our focus needs to be.

Think for a minute about how you spend your practice time. You were likely teeing it up, and using your driver on the range. A good driver might take a few strokes off your score, but think about how many drives you hit during a round. See where we're going with this? You need to spend much more time working on your short game.

We recognize it's hard to get excited about practicing the short game, but it will be easy to get excited about the lower scores you will be posting. Short game practice is where the professionals spend 80% of their time. They work on different angles. They work on different lies and in different wind conditions. And it's likely a good idea to practice what the pros work on most, even if it's not a good idea to copy their swing.

If you're like most golfers, your scores are probably in the 90's. And that's in spite of the fact that you might have the longest drive in your group. The problem is obviously with your short game and this is where you should concentrate your practice efforts. Your scores will go down rapidly if you get better in this area of your game.

So the next time you get off your job and want to head to the driving range to blast a few drives, alter your plan. Instead work on any shot that's under 75 yards. That means putting, pitching, chipping and short shots from the sand trap.

Still not a believer? Think about this. Shots from 75 yards or less make up more than half of your shots in a typical round of golf. This includes putts, chips, etc. Logic dictates that you should therefore spend at least 50% of your practice time working on them. If you're still shooting in the 90's, less than twenty percent of your shots are with a driver off the tee. Your practice time needs to be mainly spent on the strokes you hit most.

Sure hitting drives on the range is fun, but it's not nearly as much fun as seeing your scores fall by as many as 10 shots per round.

Head Liquidmetal Radical: A Top Seller and Rightly So

This racquet has been around for several years now, but the Head Liquidmetal Radical remains a competitive racquet for intermediate and advanced players, and one version is actually used by the pros.

While this racquet is a bit on the heavy side, it actually lends itself well to smooth ground strokes as a result. Everything feels steady and firm due to the racquet's weight, and the spin it puts on the ball is great.

Serving with the Head Liquidmetal Radical was fairly comfortable as well. The Midplus doesn't have the most power out of all the similar racquets out there, but rather gives you solid control and a decent amount of spin. A nice sweet spot on the racquet allowed us to attack on the return of serve without a lot of fear of the ball taking off on us.

The Liquidmetal Radical is one of the most successful racquets in tennis history as far as sales are concerned, and much of it has to do with the overall frame and comfort it gives to its owners.

As a bonus, anyone looking for some extra comfort will be happy to know that the over-sized model gives an additional nine square inches. The larger sweet spot makes it all the more easy to hit steady shots.

While most experienced players will generally frown upon an over-sized racquet, we had no qualms with it here. The control that's usually sacrificed with an over-sized racquet didn't seem to be much of an issue this time around.

Serving is extremely comfortable with this racquet. It packs a good deal of power with an easy swing weight. The control is there, and with the head size, the Head Liquidmetal Radical could become a nice weapon for a serve and volley player.

The only drawback we noticed while trying this Over-sized Liquidmetal Radical was it didn't quite generate as much spin as we wanted. This is obviously not a problem if you tend to not hit with a ton of spin, but just don't expect to slice and top spin your way to victory with this racquet.

Both Head Liquidmetal Radicals tested really well for us. We preferred the Midplus because it fit our game better, but the over-sized will find plenty of fans as well. Either Head Liquidmetal Radical will help in a player's advancement in their game.
